In a recent study conducted by our organization, it has been revealed that creators of Ghibli-themed images on social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and X are facing a significant decline in their follower base. The primary reason cited for this decline is the excessive posting of spam content, which has led to widespread unfollows, unfriending, and account blocks.
The Survey and Its Findings
Our research team analyzed 100 profiles of content creators who primarily share Ghibli images. The study aimed to track the engagement levels, follower retention, and overall reception of their content.
The findings indicate a noticeable decline in engagement, with Ghibli image posts experiencing a 33% drop in likes and interactions. Additionally, there has been a 2% decrease in the number of followers, showing that users are distancing themselves from these creators due to spam-related concerns.
Alarmingly, many users have taken more drastic measures, such as blocking these accounts and reporting them for spam. This suggests a growing frustration among social media users regarding the excessive and repetitive posting of Ghibli-themed images.
Gender of Ghibli Content Creators
The study also shed light on the gender of Ghibli content creators. Of the 100 profiles analyzed, a staggering 92% were female, while only 8% were male. This highlights that women dominate the Ghibli fan content space on social media.
Why Are Followers Unsubscribing?
According to social media users who participated in the survey, the key reasons for unfollowing or blocking Ghibli content creators include:
Excessive posting of repetitive content: Many users reported that their feeds were flooded with the same style of Ghibli images, making it monotonous.
Low-quality or automated posts: Some creators may be relying on automated posting tools, leading to low-quality or irrelevant content.
Lack of originality: While Ghibli content is widely loved, followers expect fresh and creative posts rather than recycled or overly edited images.
Impact on Ghibli Creators Community
The drop in engagement and the rise in reports could potentially affect the overall reach of Ghibli-themed content on social media. If major platforms detect an increase in spam reports, they might reduce the visibility of such posts, limiting the reach of genuine Ghibli content creators. This could also lead to stricter content moderation policies that may impact all fan art and aesthetic-based content.
What Can Ghibli Content Creators Do?
To regain their audience's trust and improve engagement, Ghibli content creators may need to adopt the following strategies:
Reduce the frequency of posts: Posting less but focusing on quality can help maintain audience interest.
Create original and unique content: focus on Original Images, Videos, fresh perspectives, personal experiences, and in-depth analysis.
Engage more with followers: Instead of merely sharing images, creators should interact with their audience through meaningful captions, discussions, or storytelling.
