Crime Branch Raids Continue at Tripura University

Agartala, April 9: The Crime Branch conducted yet another raid at Tripura Central University today, marking the third consecutive day of their investigation into alleged irregularities in the appointment process for Group D posts. According to sources, Crime Branch officials collected detailed information regarding the recruitment procedure, further intensifying the atmosphere of unrest within the university.

Tensions have reached a boiling point among the faculty, staff, and officials of the university, who expressed strong resentment over the repeated police operations. University insiders report that the academic community is feeling humiliated and frustrated, claiming that neither the professors nor the administrative personnel are involved in any unethical or illegal activities. “We have to face questions and suspicion every day, despite having no connection to any wrongdoing,” said a university employee on condition of anonymity.

In response to the latest raid, a closed-door emergency meeting was held by the university's teaching and non-teaching staff. A major resolution was passed during the meeting: no professor, officer, or employee will participate in any future recruitment process including tasks such as setting exam papers, evaluating answer sheets, conducting interviews, or overseeing written tests for posts across Group A, B, C, and D.

The university employees further decided to escalate their protest by launching a continuous strike. They also plan to formally notify the Ministry of Human Resource Development and, if necessary, the Rashtrapati Bhavan (President’s Office), about their withdrawal from all recruitment-related duties. Additionally, they are preparing to inform the University Grants Commission (UGC) of their decisions as early as tomorrow.

This growing standoff has raised serious concerns about the future of recruitment at the university. With staff refusing to cooperate, it remains unclear how the ongoing and upcoming recruitment processes will proceed, especially for Group D posts, which have already stirred significant controversy.

Adding to the complexity of the issue, it has emerged that the individual accused of accepting bribes in exchange for promising jobs in Group D positions is not a regular employee of Tripura University. Despite this, the reputation of the entire institution appears to be under scrutiny, further fueling the anger of legitimate university personnel.

Meanwhile, the situation has left thousands of job-seeking youth in the state confused and disheartened, particularly those eagerly awaiting appointments in the Group D category. With the recruitment process now stalled indefinitely, questions loom over who will take responsibility for the delay and its socio-economic impact on the state’s already burdened unemployed population.

As the standoff between the Crime Branch and Tripura University continues, all eyes are now on the higher authorities for intervention and resolution.
