GUWAHATI: The Assam government has announced a 10-day healthcare camp initiative beginning September 1, focused on identifying and treating children with heart and blood-related illnesses.
The main goal of these camps is to facilitate early detection and treatment for affected children. Following the screening process, the government will develop personalized treatment plans for those in need.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma emphasized the government's commitment to the health of every child in the state through a social media post. He stated, “Our aim is to ensure the good health of every child in Assam. From September 1 to 10, we are organizing special camps to identify children with heart and blood-related illnesses and to create treatment plans for them.”
The Chief Minister urged parents to bring their children to the nearest screening camp for necessary healthcare.
The camps will provide comprehensive support, including referral services to specialized hospitals for those requiring advanced care. Assistance will be available for children aged 0 to 14 who need treatment for conditions such as bone marrow transplants, leukemia, thalassemia, and rare blood diseases. Additionally, children aged 0 to 18 with Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) will also receive care.
On Sunday, the Gauhati Medical College & Hospital conducted a health camp for the Kamrup Metro and Kamrup districts.
